Mark Hollmer, a veteran journalist with more than 30 years of experience, has been the Automotive News retail technology reporter since January 2023. He writes about the technology and tech companies that dealerships and other automotive retailers use to sell cars, with a focus on topics such as dealership management systems, artificial intelligence, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and startups. He regularly covers companies including CDK Global, Reynolds & Reynolds, Cox Automotive, CarGurus, TrueCar and AutoNation. When two cyberattacks struck CDK on June 19, 2024, Hollmer broke the story and led subsequent coverage of the challenges for CDK's 15,000 dealerships customers across North America. Previously, Hollmer completed long stints at Carrier Management, the Boston Business Journal and elsewhere covering technology, M&A, startups, venture capital and innovation in the property casualty insurance, biotechnology, health care and medical device industries.
